Lisa Marie And Tanzer To Release “A Boy Like You” On July 7th, 2015
“A Boy Like You,” the third in a string of rockin’ collaborations from the powerhouse duo Tanzer/Lisa Marie finds the rocker easing up on her upper register this time taking a more sophisticated and melodic approach. Lyrically, the song tackles the core element of one being in love; standing up in favor of it and overall just celebrating love for all. “There was a time for awhile that I felt our lives were never easy, but you’d smile, yeah you’d smile, feel your eyes lookin’ right at me,” Lisa Marie articulates in the verse, “Baby, I don’t really know how I coulda ever been so lucky, no storm I can’t face with you close to me.” “We’ve wanted to do this for quite a while,” Tanzer explains, “We finally found the through-line with the context; wrote it and recorded it. Serendipitously enough, we were on our way to the photo shoot on Friday, June 26, 2015, when the historic, life-changing ruling came down that will forever change love for all in the United States. Needless to say, we were beside ourselves with joy!”
“A Boy Like You” is a slight departure from the duo’s first two works with some noticeable pop inspirations and even a nod towards modern country. While both have stated that neither intended to put their “Cowboy Hat” into the country ring, they’re flattered with the nod of respect they’ve gotten thus far.
Mixing credits again go to Tanzer’s longtime friend and Juno Award recipient Dan Brodbeck, who won the 2010 Recording Engineer of the Year title for his work on the songs “Apple of My Eye” and “Be Careful” from Dolores O’Riordan’s album No Baggage.
